Episode Summary: Hidden Enemies and Unexpected Allies

It has happened before. A star from the heavens lances down upon an unsuspecting world, devastating and destroying in a storm of fire and ash, making oceans from mountains and graveyards from nations. Today, this event is remembered not for its violent destruction, but for the thousand years of darkness it created—darkness both metaphorical in the descent to barbarism and physical in the blotting out of the sun from the smoke and ash that blanketed Golarion. It was the end of the Azlanti race, yet it was the genesis of another. For as the proud Azlant fell, new eyes devoid of color and kindness opened in the deep caverns of the Darklands. And as this new race prospered deep below, its number swelling in secret, the seeds for a Second Darkness took root.

Episode 3: Hidden Enemies and Unexpected Allies

Terrible things have happened in Riddleport as the adventurers have learned from their business partner Saul Vancaskerkin that both Clegg Zincher and Boss Croat have joined forces to crush them beneath their heel and stamp them out of existence by pressuring the Overload into raiding their establishment and severely damaging it. Saul explained to them that he learned of a secret meeting between the various groups at the Boneyard and suggested that they investigate and confront the conspirators before they could act again.

However the meeting was a trap and the adventurers were ambushed by a pack of Ziaphras' Bastards, a group of initiate wererats out to prove themselves in the eyes of their lycanthrope crimelord.

Unfortunately for them the adventurers were able to turn aside their ambush with the help of a mysterious elf known only as Kwama from the Mwangi Expanse, a group of elves long thought lost after the Starfall on Golarion. He explained to them that he has been sent to Riddleport to determine who was behind the actions of Saul Vancaskerkin as he appeared to be well funded and working for a person of interest to his tribe that they were hunting. He also informed them that they had been set-up by their former business partner because he believed they were becoming too powerful and had to be "removed" from the equation.

Angry at the betrayal of Saul, the adventurers decided to confront him only to find he had disappeared into the basement below the Gold Goblin. In all actuality it turned out that a cavern network extened beneath the bar all the way to the Cypheragte at the harbor entrance and they faced down various denizens placed in their path to prevent their arrival.

Cairn Wrights, troglodytes and gian hermit crabs did not slow their advance and they finally reached the true source of Saul's power; a mysterious dark-skinned elf with long white hair. An abberation to be sure.

They quickly disarmed her but not before she could escape through a trapdoor in the roof. The adventurers persued her up her long climb until they realized that they had reached the zenith of the Cyphergate. She had taken several hits from them before she threw herself off the edge and hurtled towards a ship passing below.

One courages, and stupid, adventurer dove over the edge to stab at her and possibly grapple with her as she used her featherfall spell to float to safety. While he was able to pierce her defenses he failed to grab hold and slammed into the deck of the ship nearly killing himself. At this sight the rest of the adventureres believed that they had to stop her and one by one dove off the Cyphergate and sucessfully grappled her, but not without several members being hurtled to the ship below.

She was quickly killed and her plans still unknown. But then the Blot, which had hung there for nearly a year, finally covered the entire sky and caused darkness to fall across all of Riddleport. A star flung itself down towards the cesspit of a city but instead crashed into the nearby island of Devil's Elbow. One unfortunate soul was swept up in the ensuing Tsunami and dissapeared never to be found again.

With the destruction about Riddleport being extensive and expensive the adventurers returned to their establishment now full owners. But their respite was not long lived.

Their transmuter bartender and all around shy girl explained to them that she had learned of a manuscript that had been stolen from the Cyphermages by antoher wizard and if they could retrive it for her she would be infinitely greatful and perhaps it could get her an apprenticeship into the order.

They set off immediately and began clearing the wizard's tower of its denizens.

They found the original owner soulbound to his own library forced to act as a libararian to all who entered until his seal was broken and he escaped. A Threadbare attacked the players and nearly sapped their strength while a clutch of Rakshasa engaged them near the rear of the building where the manuscript was found. They learned that not all was as it seemed and that many of their enemites had been transmuted massess of simple elements made to resemble various forms and found a fully formed transmutation circle which spoke of creating intelligent weapons.

After several failed attempts and one embarssing misteak which summoned an evil avatar the secret of the circle was discovered and a servant of a neutral god was summoned and became indebted to the adventureres. Upon their return they immediately sought out Samaritha and she presented the manuscript to the Cyphermages.

So impressed with "her" ability to recover the manuscript, Elias Tammerhawk himself took her in as his own personal apprentice. All seemed to be going well for once in Riddleport....but not for long.

Uh...this was the third game.

I think you were at the first and second one?

We're only at the third and the one coming up next week is the fourth one.
