Just how much time has passed in the DCU?

Postby ScrollMasterRob » Sat Apr 23, 2011 1:39 am

Time in the DCU either crawls or flies. In Batman Year 1, we see young 20-something Bruce Wayne arrive home and start working on his cime stopping agenda. We also see that Lt. James Gordon was just transferred in from Chicago-with his very pregnant wife. James Jr. is born at the end of the 4 issue storyline. Harvey Dent has not become 2 Face. Selina Kyle and Holly are working as prostitutes. The Joker is a brand new villain. At least 22 years has passed in DCU time since Batman Year 1. Would this make Bruce Wayne about 45 years old?

The character of Lian Harper (the Daughter of Speedy and Cheshire) was introduced in 1989. Lian was killed in the "Cry for Justice" series last year. Lian was either 6 years old or 5 going on 6. That's 5 or 6 years in DCU time vs 21 years of actual time.

At least DC got smart enough to make up their own POTUS. Marvel has shown every president since LBJ.

According to Batgirl #1(the relaunch series), it has been only 3 YEARS since the events depicted in "The Killing Joke". looks like any form of continuity in the DCU is FUBAR until the new writers needd to pull a little backstory out of their collective asses.
