Playtest: Barbarian By RPG Staff
Our next playtest opportunity is here! Check out the barbarian class from Player's Handbook 2, which doesn't release until 2009.

To bad the campaign rules limit people to playing a character who hails from one of the 12 regions, so sadly, no Rashemi Barbarians (that rule really burned me, as I wanted to play a Paladin from Tantras. Oh well. I'll play a Cormyrean, instead. A Cormaeril to be exact).

I would still play a Rashemi barbarian and just say that he was sent to explore the world and learn
how it has changed since the Spell Plague. Also, he would be hunting down Red Wizards of Thay
because Red Wizards suck but they look good burning alive on a stick!!! ;)

That's a damn shame. I was really looking forward to that article. Oh well.

By the way, the PHB2 will have the following races:

Deva (Renamed Aasimar)
Gnome
Goliath
Half-Orc
Shifter

As for classes, Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Shaman, and Sorcerer are pretty much a given. There're three others, but no idea what their names will be (although two of the unnamed ones will probably be a Divine Striker and a Divine Controller). Also appears that the Barbarian may be a Primal Striker, while the Druid is no longer a hybrid class.

Incidentally, Manual of the Planes will include a new playable race. And Martial Power will introduce a two-weapon fighting build for the Fighter (you can see a preview for it here). Last but not least, Adventurer's Vault is supposedly going to have a better swashbuckling weapon.

EDIT: Whoops, talk about a brain fart. What I get for doing two things at once. Anyway, fixed the link.
