Blackmoor at the Summoning rocked!!!

Postby thetrickygnome » Sun Dec 16, 2007 8:06 pm

Overall I know we had a smaller corwd for the Summoning that
expected but I must say that the Blackmoor side of it was really
strong. Aside from a few bumps in the road ( hopefully we will get
to play The Seige episode / BI soon ) I was REALLY impressed
with the quality of episodes, storyline, and sheer enjoyment that
the Blackmoor episodes offered. Many of them were rather harrowing
experiences but I had a very strong party throughout the con and I
must tip my hat to them. Dallas and Charles were awesome, Joey
was archering the heck out of things, Charlies sneaking and stabbing
bad guys like a madman, our two nobles Jason and David were
going nuts with their diplomatic and social skills and I had Claudio
in one game who was showing people why sorcerers get a bad rap
for no good reason. Mario's dwarven PC cleric was rocking the bad
guys pretty hard and helping us keep up.

I got what I wanted for sooooooo long and I got to see what is the
beginning of a MAJOR turn in the history of Blackmoor. The wrath of
Raddon Goss was made blatantly and horrifically apparent and as of
now I can say with great certainty that the Wizards Cabal may NEVER
be the same. Sides will be chosen, enemies made but in the end the
players will decide the destiny of Blackmoor... as it should be.

Of course it was.

You not enjoying yourself because you want to be Mr. Negative is just showing why you're not playing Dungeons and Dragons in ANY form at all. Everyone who showed up had fun playing whatever system they were in except maybe that LA Dungeon Crawl that had them shaking their heads in disbelief but in the end I think they enjoyed their present for going through it.

Thanks for the compliment. Seriously though, if you want to get back
into one game that is not RPGA organized play and lots of fun I would
try getting back into Blackmoor. Granted, alot of people have played
the episodes but I was impressed with the storyline and episode flow
that were represented in the Summoning episodes for Blackmoor. The
episodes had a clear, flowing storyline, awesome combats, interesting
NPCs, tough moral choices, and what most impressed me was the good
mechanics the episodes showed even when dealing with unconventional
creatures, rules, and encounter construction. Now these scenarios were
written mostly by local folks who have a history of good writing so I
while I cannot say that all Blackmoor episodes will be done so well,
overall Blackmoor is fun and more free flowing. I would give it a try if
I were you.

"...but was it really that good."

That's the problem with your post. Of course it was good otherwise he'd be telling you how crappy it was.
