Living Force: The New Sith Wars (Campaign Information)

No Surrender, No Retreat
Living Force: The New Sith Wars Era

Introduction
It is a time of strife in the Galactic Republic and the Army of Light has been beaten back and surrounded in the Core Systems by the unstopable Sith Empire. Lord Kaan, head of the Brotherhood of Darkness, along with his lieutenants, Lord Qordis and Lord Kopecz, have decided to re-establish the old Sith Training Academy on Korriban. However, the Jedi Order currently holds the planet and has garrisoned it with nearly one hundred Jedi and thousands of Republic ground troops. The campaign opens on this tragic event in 1,006 BBY with the players on a resupply run to Korriban on behalf of the Galactic Republic and become entangled in this deadly conflict.

Game Configuration
Unlike the standard Living Force eras available for play this one is completely unique within the Star Wars setting. Since the franchise has always awed viewers and readers alike with epic, climactic one-on-one duels between light and dark this campaign involves thousands of Jedi and Sith fighting for domination of the known galaxy and offers a different perspective and enhanced gameplay over its original counterpart.

The game utilizes the d20 System and various elements from Version 3.5 as part of its core mechanics. This will allow for an easy transition for most players who participate and help lessen the confusion of learning a new campaign with variant rules.

Variant Rules

Force Points
Because the focus of the game tends to gravitate towards the more epic and grandure moments during gameplay, this campaign will not utilize the standard Light and Dark Point system. A variant provided in the core rulebook describes a more gritty and realistic version of the Force in which every action is weighed in the balance between good and evil. This does not mean that force points will be arbitrarily assigned to players for their actions, but should serve as a reminder to players that actions have consequences and falling prey to the Dark side is easier to do in this era than in others.

Characters who are Jedi will be allowed to carry a Dark side point deficit against their character during play and this does not mean that they have become "evil" or members of the Sith. Instead their characters have been "tainted" by the Dark side and that they have begun to be temted by the power offered by the Sith and their passionate, rage consumed ways. Dark side points can be removed through "attonement" by acting heroicly, honorably or in a self-sacrificing manner and in addition if a player does succumb to the Dark side they have one chance to "redeem" themselves and restore their honor and integrity.

Jedi Weaponry
The primary weapon of the Jedi and the Sith is the lightsaber and in the Living Force campaign there is little or no variation allowed besides the color of one's primary weapon. This campaign seeks to build upon the success of the Knights of the Old Republic video game and offers lightsaber wielders more options for improving and customizing their personal weapons as is described in detail throughout various canon materials.

The first variant is that of the "focusing lens" within one's lightsaber. Each of these weapons come with a standard focusing lens but there are several variations that provide different bonuses to the weilder when installed within the plasma blade. Double bladed lightsabers are allowed one lens for each side of their dual weapon as opposed to one for regular lightsabers.

The second variation is that of the "primary crystal" and "focusing crystal" found within the technical skematics of the lightsaber. Each of these personal weapons has three lightsaber crystals within and a standard lightsaber comes with mundane crystals and only allows the wielder to choose what color their blade will be. Currently there are over thirty variations of lightsaber crystals available for installation in one's lightsaber, however they must either be captured from enemy combatants, found within the crystal caves, purchased on the market or found throughout the course of the story arc.

The final variant with respect to lightsabers is the addition of a new Jedi weapon, the lightwip. It has longer reach than its lightsaber counterpart and is more difficult to wield than a standard lightsaber but can produce more devastating and strategic attacks. It also follows the same construction methods as a lightsaber and can be equipped with the same number of focusing lenses and lightsaber crystals; however, it cannot be made into a dual weapon.
