What Other Living Campaigns are out there?

Postby Spleenhunter » Sun Sep 23, 2007 11:03 am

I was curious, what are all the living campaings that exist and what is their current status as to when they might end.

I know there is:

Living Greyhawk (apparently ends summer next year)
Living Arcanis (no end in site)
Living Shining Jewel (no end in this)
Living Kalamar (ending next year I believe)
Living Dragonstar (done)
Living Force (no clue on status)
Living Spycraft (no clue on status)
Living Forgotten Realms (comes next summer I think)
Living Blackmoor (no end in site)

are there any others current, ending, or beginning?

thanks

Ken

Just a correction "Dave Arneson's Blackmoor: The MMRPG" is not a "Living Campaign" the last campaign that recieved that designation was "Living Kalamar." Currently the only "Living" campaigns still supported by WotC are "Living Greyhawk" and "Living Kalamar" while all the others you mentioned either discontinued or were kicked out by WotC (including Arcanis and Spycraft).

"Living Force" or the newest incarnation will be released some time towards early '08 from what I've read on the various gaming sites.

I am pretty uneducated as to who owns what products and should have made that clear. In this case i was using the term "Living" rather generically to represent where players could played their characters in different states or even countries. For example, one could play blackmoor with a group of strangers in Cali and then a different group of strangers in Illinois.

Apologies for the incorrect vocabulary in this case.

Fairly accurate statement on this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_Campaigns

Living Campaigns are part marketing tool, part volunteer campaign settings, which allow people all over the world to play role-playing games in a shared universe. While the earliest living campaigns were run by the RPGA (Role Playing Gamer's Association), a division of Wizards of the Coast, many groups around the world run active living campaigns.

Also some great information for what is readily available and/or in the wings.
