Picked up the Saga Edition book on Saturday. Flipping through it, but so far it's BEAUTIFUL. And it's d20 that makes classes less important, though it's still tied to levels. Will post a full review on the AOENT site by this weekend, travel and work permitting.

Here's what I've found. For those going to GenCon Indy, plan accordingly.

Wizards of the Coast has reinvigorated its Star Wars Role-Playing Game with the recent release of the Star Wars RPG Saga Edition core rulebook ($39.95 see "WotC's New Star Wars RPG") and WotC plans to continue the revitalization process with a new organized play campaign titled Dawn of Defiance that will be previewed at GenCon Indy. WotC, which collaborated with the RPGA on a previous Living Force campaign, is likely to do so again on Dawn of Defiance, but the new campaign that begins in earnest in the fall won't have the same structure as the Living Force campaign.

Although the details of the Dawn of Defiance campaign haven't been released, it should bring back Star Wars RPG fans, who have been starving for organized play opportunities.

Humm

I have a feeling it will end up following the "D&D Campaign" format, which I never liked...

I will give the campaign a try, lets see what happens...

Forget a new system. West End Games put out an easy to use and fun to play system. Books are easy to find at used bookstores-cheap. With skill specializations, you can make a fairly powerful character right off the bat. All you need is a good GM. I would be willing to run a WEG campaign, set in the twenty year period between episodes 3&4.

WEG system was nice... My biggest issue was that the information always seemed inconsistent.

The rules were decent. The flavor was lacking.

The production value of the WotC certainly adds to the feel for the game, something that was lacking in most of the WEG products. Their **best** book was one of the last ones they published (being the hard cover Revised Rulebook) IMO.
