4E Gnome

Gnome
Gnomes are sly tricksters who excel at avoiding notice as they move between the Feywild and the world, driven by curiosity and wanderlust.

No matter how mean, or evil looking it is it's still a Gnome. Gnomes are angry Dwarves with pipsqueak voices and annoying attitudes. If you play a character that is a Gnome, you've been Gnomed. :]
There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

First God created idiots, he was just getting started, then he created Wizards of the Coast 4e Dnd.

Here's a look at Gnomes in 4E, at least the monster version. According to thispost, Gnomes (at least one of their monster versions) has the following abilities.

  • Fade Away (immediate reaction, when the gnome skulk takes damage from any source, encounter) Illusion The gnome skulk turns invisible until it attacks or until the end of its next turn (whichever comes first.)
  • Reactive Stealth If a gnome has cover or concealment when it rolls an initiative check at the start of an encounter, it can make a Stealth check to escape notice as a free action.
  • Shadow Skulk When a gnome skulk makes a melee or ranged attack from hiding and misses, it is still considered to be hiding.

Note that those are abilities for a monster version of the Gnome. The PC Gnome may be different (Some of those abilities, for instance, may be things that're purchased through Racial Feats rather then being automatic). That should give an idea, though, of the direction they're going with the 4E Gnome.

Oh hell yeah. It sounds like the gnomes are masters of sniping attacks.

A little bit more on the Gnome from here.

Gnomes. GNOMES. Gnomes are insane. Gnomes can *turn invis* once per encounter after they've taken dmg. They can also choose to roll "hide" instead of intialtive at the start of an encounter. Hello Gnome Rogue. And by "hello" I mean, "Please, for the love of god, stop stabbing me in the back." My friends quote was "Man, I hate gnomes! They're stupid! But now I can't stop picturing a pack of gnomes sitting in the trees doing the clicking noise that the Predators make in the alien movies. Stupid stealth gnomes. I'm going to have to play one."

I already pre-ordered mine a couple weeks ago, and paid for 2-day shipping to get it ASAP. Though I doubt that even if they ship the books a day or two early, that I'll get it in time for that Worldwide D&D Gameday thing, so I may end up getting a spare PHB. We'll see.

GNOME
Average Height:
3'4"-3'8"
Average Weight: 50-75 lbs.

Ability Scores: +2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma
Size: Small
Speed: 5 squares
Vision: Low-light

Languages: Common, Elven
Skill Bonuses: +2 Arcana, +2 Stealth
Reactive Stealth: If you have cover or concealment when you make an initiative check, you can make a Stealth check to escape notice.
Fade Away: You can use fade away as an encounter power.

FADE AWAY Gnome Racial Power
You turn invisible in response to an enemy’s attack.
Encounter * Illusion
Immediate Reaction Personal
Trigger:
You take damage.
Effect: You are invisible until you attack or until the end of your next turn.

Thus ends the thread on Gnomes, with the posting of the Gnome stats. BTW: Small creatures can't use two-handed weapons, and treat Versatile weapons as two-handed weapons (but don't get the +1 damage bonus). That's the difference between Small and Medium.
