You should know by now BS like this is going to happen all the time until
enough people get tired, decide not to put up with it and band together
and do their own thing. When enough people start leaving the steady
ranks of local organized play and form their own cliques, these kinds of
actions might make enough people stop and say " Hey, why are we
losing so many players? " or "Why is it getting harder to find DMs to
organize cons?" People have power because either they take it with
little resistance or they take it because other people are too lazy to do
things themselves. Either way, it's hard to fault the person taking the
power - it's like puttign a stack of 100 dollar bills on the sidewalk in
a very impoverished beighborhood and asking people not to take any
of it. Hopefully you will return to gaming at least part time. I have not
games with you in ages.

Actually Rene it's more like.... Here let me help you guys out with stuff..

And then the campaign comes along and makes you drop the soap. And doesn't buy you dinner afterwards. And possibly calls you fat and ugly.
And doesn't even call you for weeks.

After so many soap droppings you're like.... dammit I just can't take any more of this treatment. So you leave and become an angry manbian.
Just look at how Adolfo turned out.

Well I look at it a bit differently. I think blaming a gaming system
itself for the many ills of gaming is ognorant and stupid. You don't
blame a gaming systems for being the reason for quitting play -
you blame the people behind the scene who make the moves for
the gaming system. Your post about you wondering if your the only
guy out there who does not regret the death of LG on the PoU
discussion board was interesting. You haven't played LG in a million
years, you have consistently had a low opinion of it and taken pot
shots at it often. Seeing that you rarely if ever post on that forum
and suddenly I see a post which basically says " Hey, LG is going
away. Hurray!! " just reinforces the flawed logic that alot of people
have about LG. They keep taking a crap on LG and abuse it like a
crash test dummy like doing so is "cool". I wish people would stop
punishing LG for problems that are not inherently consigned to only
that gaming system. Last time I checked, LG was the one of the most
constant and steady sources of gaming in our area. When was the
last time anyone played LA? When was the last time anyone played
Blackmoor or Witch Hunter? And like I've said before, if a person does
not like LG then don't play the game and if you let something as simple
as a D&D campaign fill you with so much hatred, angst, & frustration
then think about what that says about that person.

No offense to you and all those other people out there who are hellbent
of dragging LG thru muck and garbage but I suggest all of you get over
it. If you're not playing LG or any other gaming system anymore for
whatever reason, don't try to lessen the fun for those people who still
enjoy playing. I'm thru defending LG against people who have their
heads up there butt. No amount of common sense or logical debate will
change their perceptions so why even try?

Hold on. I said the campaign.
Rene you know just like anyone else the levels of bullshit that miami has had to go through.
You know this first hand. Don't get selective memory on me.

For a fact we have been treated pretty unfairly by the campaign staff in the past.
I remember epic posts from you full of rage and hate over our treatment and the system.

I take my potshots for a good reason. And that reason is that the campaign took a huge steaming sh*t on us. I might forgive but I don't forget the treatment and abuse that all my friends had to suffer at the hand of LG. You included.
And this is one of the primary reasons I don't play LG.
Why should I play a game that consistently abused miami players in the past? To me that's just insanity. There's other stuff out there to do and play. I understand you're in there turning the tide.
However I will admit that I should of done something a long time ago to better the region. So I will take some blame for not stepping up to help more than I have.
But after hearing how the circle of 6 treats it's triad members. and seen the backstabbing in this region. and how the player base treated john brown in particular.
Well i'd rather wipe my ass with a cheese grater than go through with that bullshit.
And you know what Rene. Yeah the LG campaign does fill me with hatred. And it has filled you with blinding rage on occasion too. I've read your posts. They are on this message board if you wanna look back.

But you know what. I've put my time and effort into promoting the campaign in this region. And you know what I get for it?
A big fat scheißering for my troubles.
That doesn't bother me so much because I can walk away from it.
But it does bother me when I see my friends that put so much time and effort into the campaign and they get the big f*ck you too. That's what pisses me of even more. This is why I have such hatred of the campaign.

And don't think I'm asking for some sort of recognition. I'm not looking for a prize not even a thank you. Just some respect and respect for my friends.
As far as I'm concerned defending lg is like trying to defend michael vick.
There is no defending the crap we've had to put up with.
When what we were trying to do is promote the game in our region.
I feel used like a tampon.

Just don't hate D&D

Postby thetrickygnome » Fri Oct 12, 2007 11:15 am

You can hate LG all you want.
Just don't hate D&D.
And don't lump everyone in LG in the same " I hate you box ".

There are good people in this campaign who have real life smack
them in face hard. I don't want to bring up personal stuff but I know
that part of the reason you got away from the game was due to the
health of a loved one. Well guess what Albert - congratulations we
have something in common. On top of my son being diagnosed with
possible behavior problems, speech delay, and a from of posisble
autism, my dad was operated 2 months ago to remove a malignant
tumor from his gall bladder. Guess what.. the cancer came back and
he may lose his gall baldder and have to have an artificial one made
from his own intestine. Oh, and we are praying that the cancer has not
spread and was contained to the bladder.

For people who can't hang on due to personal stuff, I sympathize with
them. For people however who use the game as a tool of abuse towards
other people, they can suck my ass and I give you carte blanche to
drop as much misery and spite as you want on them.

The only point I make Albert is simple. When you load the gun of hate
and fire, and I admit I have done this before, jsut make sure you are
aiming at an enemy target and not creating a victim of friendly fire.
It's not the game that is the problem, it's more often the system.

Just make sure when you pull the trigger that it's worth the results
you will get and that you are not hurting the wrong people. You did
not just stop playing LG, you stopped playing almost entirely Albert.
So if you have come to hate the game more than a single campaign
system then I think that is sad. If you have come to hate a campaign
and not the D&D game itself then I can understand why you would feel
that way.

Well Rene I think I've been fairly clear that I don't hate LG. And I don't hate D&D.
I hate the way LG has been run in the past.
I hate the some of the decisions that have been made.
I hate the way people have been back stabbed.
And I especially hate the way it has treated and hurt miami players. Especially players that didn't have any reason to get hurt.

My gun is pointed at all the bullshit and people that start that bullshit.

And sorry to hear about your dad. My dad hasn't been well for over a year now. And it's not the easiest thing to see or go through.
I know what it's like.

I wonder what is going to happen to DnD online. Which is supposed to replace WoW. Do they realize it sucks.
There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

First God created idiots, he was just getting started, then he created Wizards of the Coast 4e Dnd.

I agree with Adolpho

Online D&D style games and D&D in general may be the wave of the
future but it really damages the spirit of gaming. The best of friend-
ships have been forged by a casual meeting playing D&D at a table
with people that start out as strangers and get to know one another.
I met Ralph, The Godfather of DnD in Miami,, Peter B., Mario, Ramon, Richard, Monica, Albert, and a host
of other good people by gaming in person and not from a casual
seat behind a computer screen. There is no replacement for live
human emotion - a computer screen where the person types " Oh
that was awesome!!" is not the same as seeing the person react with
euphoria when their PC pulls off an improbable and utterly heroic
moment.

Let them keep their impersonal, distancing computer play. Give me
some dice, a character sheet, and a table of good, fun players any
day of the week.

Dude I would so rather play with Ralph, The Godfather of DnD in Miami, over the computer than in real life. I don't have to listen to rules arguments or dyving up treasure.
